Cimarron Ozarks Hank

This page will definitely need some updating.  Hank is now a year old, big and beautiful.  It seems like he gets more intelligent every day, and more than ever I don't know what we'd do without him.  He has very good herding abilities.  He has herded poultry, cattle, and goats successfully and demands obedience.  He uses the quiet approach to herding more and more, where the animal he is herding doesn't even seem to realize they're being herded.  He never draws blood exept when neccassary.  (such as a VERY bossy goat that refuses to budge and would rather butt at him.)  He is typically a header, but will heel if he has to.  He's very attentive and very much a vocal dog that likes to talk with you.  He loves baby animals and is very gentle on them.

Above:  Hank quietly saying hello to a baby chick.... we had these chicks in a trailer for the summer and hank loved it if we would open the door so he could watch them.  Still not quite tall enough at 4 months to see everything, he had to stand on his backlegs.  (Below)  If any happened to fall out of the trailer, Hank would gently pick the chick up and set him back in the trailer.  He could sit and watch them for hours.

Above:  Hank herding Cynthia out of the yard at 4 months old.

As a puppy, Hank would pout if you scolded him or things weren't going quite his way.  Tired of pictures, he pouts.  (Below)  He has since grown out of this, which is rather bittersweet.  It was so cute, but now that he is an 'adult' he is so easy to control because he is not focused on himself.
